Flexible Training and Working
Less Than Full Time Training (LTFT) is available to all trainees with caring responsibilities and should be offered where practicable within local constraints. LTFT is based on working less than 40 hours/ week and usually involves working between 50% and 80% of a full-time rota. This can either be on your own in a full time slot or as part of a job-share. Job sharing can work well as it means both trainees work together at some point duringthe week and can facilitate effective hand overs. Find whatever schedule works for you and don’t be afraid to change your mind.
It is important to start planning early. If you wish to be considered for LTFT training then the first place to start is an open discussion with your TPD. Applications usually need to be submitted a minimum of three months in advance of the planned date so will need to submitted while on maternity leave, unless arrangements are made before leave commences.
There are a variety of considerations and the resources below can help infrom your decision.
