COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team went a perfect 5-0 on the week, defeating Davidson and The Citadel in the midweek and sweeping a three-game series with Morehead State in Columbia.

NOTES:
Ethan Petry had a pair of home runs on the week, upping his career total to 49, which puts him second by himself on Carolina’s career home run list. He now only trails Justin Smoak’s 62 round trippers.

Carolina played its first 1-0 game since Feb. 23, 2023, in a win over Morehead State on Sunday. The quartet of Dylan Eskew, Jackson Soucie, Tyler Pitzer and Brendan Sweeney allowed just four hits in the win. The ÈȵãºÚÁÏ lowered its team ERA to 3.31 after the game.

Jarvis Evans had the longest outing by a Gamecock this season in Wednesday’s win over The Citadel. Evans went seven innings in the 9-1 win, striking out six and allowing just three hits and a run. Evans had a career high in innings pitched between Georgia and Carolina in the win.

Evan Stone had a pair of home runs on the week, including a grand slam in Saturday’s win over Morehead State. Stone now has six career home runs and seven RBI this year.

Carolina hosts Georgia State on Wednesday night before starting SEC play this weekend with a three-game home series against Oklahoma.
